This was a very special occasion, the Society’s first venture abroad and a performance of Fauré’s beautiful Requiem in the very church in which the composer had been organist for many years. The afternoon performance, a free event, attracted a large walk-in audience and the whole performance was very enthusiastically received.
The concert also featured Rachmaninov’s Nunc Dimittis, Purcell’s Evening Hymn, Duruflé’s Ubi Caritas, Stainer’ God So Loved the World and Parry’s I was Glad.
LCCS chorister Sarah Fisher sang the soprano solo in the Fauré and Jacob Copper baritone. Guy Withers sang tenor in the Rachmaninov and Sebastian Cheer, son of accompanist John, soprano in the Purcell.
