Mozart’s Requiem was commissioned in July 1791 but remained uncompleted by the time of the composer’s death in December of that year. His wife, Constanze, engaged Franz Joseph Süssmayer, a family friend to complete the work, and it is his version that is typically performed today.
For this performance, LCCS were joined by Emily Wenman, a young lyric soprano from Guildford, Belfast-born alto Dawn Burns, bass Matthew Brook and former LCCS chorister and current Royal College of Music student, tenor Rhys Batt.
The programme also included Gabrielli’s In Ecclessiis and J.S. Bach’s Cantata Christ Lag in Todesbanden.
