Simon Lovell-Jones
In September 2023, the Choral Society was delighted to confirm the appointment of Simon Lovell-Jones to the post of Director of Music for the choir.A few words from Simon:
"Sometimes with a choir you know instantly that this is a group of people you can work with - and that's what it was for me when I first conducted the Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society. I stepped in for former Director of Music Alex Thacker to rehearse Mendelssohn's St. Paul. The choir was friendly, welcoming, keen to listen, to try different approaches and to work their hardest to achieve the highest possible standard of music making. It was a glorious morning of singing and left me wanting more!
It is always an honour to conduct in Llandaff Cathedral - scene of so many extraordinary performances since LCCS's formation more than 80 years ago, and I am tremendously excited about taking the choir forward, exploring new repertoire and to championing the great works of the past."
